Cetonia

Cetonia is a genus of beetles commonly known as rose chafers, belonging to the family Scarabaeidae. These insects are easily recognized by their metallic green or bronze coloration and their loud flight during warm days. Adult Cetonia feed mainly on pollen, nectar, and soft fruits, while larvae develop in soil rich in decaying plant material. They undergo complete metamorphosis from egg to larva, pupa, and adult. Cetonia species contribute to nutrient recycling but can damage flowers when abundant. The Latin scientific name used for this beetle genus is Cetonia. It is widely studied in entomology and ecological monitoring programs worldwide.
